Linux install day with Silicon Corridor Linux User Group
Remix Reading, in partnership with the Silicon Corridor Linux User Group, will be hosting a Linux install day on the 15th of April. The local community is invited to come along and learn more about the free, ethical operating system, get support and advice from Linux experts, and even have it installed on your PC if you're not confident enough to do it yourself.
Linux, or GNU/Linux, is a collection of software created and shared by a loose collection of volunteers and companies who believe in free software. It's an alternative to Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOSX, though free software is also available for those operating systems. Free software grants you the freedom to use it for any purpose, share it with your friends, study the source code, and modify it to suit your needs. The install day will extend the spirit of Remix Reading from art to computers, promoting the ideas of creative freedom and sharing.
Turn up anytime between 11am and 5pm at the Rising Sun Arts Centre, Silver St, Reading. Organisational details can be found on the SCLUG wiki.
