Have your work shown in an exhibition running at the Riverside Museum at Blake's Lock, 28th-30th April! We are running a competition to gather eleven great pieces of work that interpret the local area and local art. You can browse the entries or follow the guidelines below to enter your own work.

Closing date: Thursday 6th April.

Prizes

The eleven best pieces will be shown at our exhibition, which will be well publicised throughout Berkshire and amongst free culture / Creative Commons communities on the internet with a reach of hundreds of thousands.

We run events in Reading to promote free culture offline. Here are some of our upcoming events...

Open Media Labs

Come and learn how to use arty free software, or show off your skills to others, at our open media lab. Just turn up with an open mind. There are only two rules for open media labs:
1) If you need help, just ask everyone else in the room
2) If someone asks for help, and you can help them, you have to help them

Where: Rising Sun Arts Centre, Silver St, Reading
When: Every fortnight on Saturdays, 12am-4pm. The next one will be on Saturday 9th September.

Remixed Reading - art exhibition

We ran a weekend-long exhibition showing work from our art competition. The works remixed selected existing works from the Remix Commons web site, as well as visually remixing Reading itself. Photos of the exhibition are available, as is the exhibition catalogue.

Fading Ways / Remix Reading gig

A remix feast, featuring three artists from the Canadian indie label Fading Ways and three remixes of their work by local Reading musicians. Clare Hooper spun off against Neil Leyton, Rich Thomas mashed up before Jim Clements, and Betty & The Werewolves gave Paul James Berry a raucous introduction. Fading Ways are big Creative Commons supporters, and stopped off in Reading during their UK 'three blind mice' tour. Download the promotional flyer (svg source)

Remix Reading launch event

The most crazy remix arts spectacular Reading had ever seen heralded the launch of the project! Six booked acts in a main auditorium, an art exhibition in the corridors and a special room, and a kooky creative zone set the scene. Sets from Peter Bennett, Summerteeth, Desdemona, Meme, Roland Chadwick, Rhythm Works and Yimino, drum workshops, a recorded open mic, poetry recitals and doodles left lying around the venue.
